The twenty-third item listed (154.39 in Ingo Maier's numbering scheme) under the command of the Dux Britanniarum following the subsection headed "along the line of the Wall" (item 154.16, per lineam valli), is the Tribunus cohortis sextaae Nerviorum Virosido.

Disclaimer: Remember, a lot of what comes below is speculation. Hopefully informed speculation, but speculation nonetheless. Comments welcome! (lukeuedasarson "at" gmail.com)

The Tribunus cohortis sextae Nerviorum commands the cohors VI Nerviorum, a standard auxiliary infantry unit. Its station, Virosido (i.e. Virosidum) is the modern Brough Hill by Bainbridge in Yorkshire. Inscriptional evidence from Bainbridge (e.g. RIB 722) attests to the unit from the first decade of the third century at the latest.

The Nervii were a Belgic tribe from northern Gaul; cohors VI Nerviorum was presumably orginally recruited from among them. See also the cohors III Nerviorum (154.36), and cf. the numeri Nerviorum Dictensium (154.7). In addition to cohortes III & VI Nerviorum, cohortes I, II, & IIII Nerviorum are also attested in Britain, although they appear to have left no trace in the Notitia.

As wih all limitanei units in the Notitia, the shield pattern of the cohors VI Nerviorum is not illustrated.
